Why did Muhammad bin Tughlaq tax Hindu farmers at 50%, and killed them when they couldn't pay it?

  Pay attention to this passage from "Ch. 35 Rana Hammir Singh" in Saffron Swords by Manoshi Sinha Rawal. "...Muhammed Bin Tughlaq imposed heavy taxes on Hindus, 10 to 20 times more than those levied earlier. Farmers were forced to give half of the crop yields in addition to taxes. Many farmers left farming, left their lands and started living in the forests. Tughlaq’s men pursued them and executed them. They also executed those who could not pay taxes or paid lower than the decided amount..." "Farmers were forced to give half of the crop yields in addition to taxes." Now where on earth did Muhammad bin Tughlaq get the idea to take away HALF of what Hindu farmers produced? That's what Muhammad, his prophet, did. Can Muslims be friends with non-Muslims?

  I like it when a Muslim refers to me as "My friend." However, eve since I came to understand the general atmosphere of ignorance regarding Islam, I can't help but wonder, is this really what Islam itself teaches about non-Muslims? Let's see what the quran says about having non-muslim friends. Aal-e-Imran 3:28 Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Auliya (supporters, helpers, etc.) instead of the believers, and whoever does that will never be helped by Allah in any way, except if you indeed fear a danger from them. And Allah warns you against Himself (His Punishment), and to Allah is the final return. Hmm...That's not nice. Was Muhammad a cross dresser?

  According to the Aisha Bewley translation of Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No 2442, Muhammad received revelations while in Aisha's garment. However, the same hadith in the Hilali - Khan translation says something else. "...Do not hurt me regarding Aisha, as the Divine Inspirations do not come to me on any of the BEDS except that of Aisha.." This can be solved easily, by using the Hilali - Khan translation itself. Here's how. The above linked site (ie sunnah.com) uses the Hilali - Khan translation. However, in other Hadiths of the SAME translation, different forms of the word "ثوب" have been translated as different forms of the word "garments". What is this blog about and why?

  We've been facing an issue that's at least somewhat related to Islam since sometime. That is, in short, some Muslims carrying out horrible violence in the name of Allah and other Muslims condemning such acts, also in the name of Allah. So, which Muslims are correct? Obviously, one group of Muslims are definitely wrong, but which one? Should we just blindly believe what peaceful Muslims say? If so, why shouldn't we equally blindly believe what violent Muslims say? Should we believe what the majority of Muslims say? If so, since the majority of any religious community usually don't follow the religion properly, why shouldn't we think that it's the minority of Muslims who actually practice their religion? In other words, why shouldn't we think that it's the minority of Muslims who murder, rape, torture, and destroy in the name of Allah that practice the religion properly?
